BeforeAfterBariatric surgery makes the stomach smaller or reroutes digestion, so you feel full on far less food. It also changes the gut hormones that drive hunger. That is why it works for patients whose weight came back after diets and medications.
Dr. Keshavarzi performs these operations laparoscopically, through small incisions guided by a camera. Miami Beach patients see him at our South Miami office for the consultation and every follow-up visit.

Dr. K matches the option to your health, your goals and how much weight you need to lose, and combines treatments when that serves you better.
Most of the stomach is removed, leaving a narrow sleeve that holds far less food. This is the procedure Dr. K specializes in.
A gastric sleeve for patients whose BMI sits below the usual surgical range but whose weight still affects their health.
A sleeve program for adolescents ages 14 to 17 living with obesity.
A small stomach pouch is connected to the lower intestine, limiting both how much you eat and how much you absorb.
ESG stitches the stomach smaller from the inside, through an endoscope, with no incisions.
A temporary balloon placed in the stomach by endoscopy helps you feel full sooner.
Physician-supervised plans, including weight loss injections, personalized to your health and used on their own or alongside surgery.
Surgery fits adults whose weight affects their health and who have not kept weight off with other methods. Your consultation decides which option, if any, is right for you.

You review your health and weight history together and leave knowing which procedure fits and what it costs.
Medical clearances and an upper endoscopy are required. You can complete them with us or at an outside facility, and a recent endoscopy may already count.
A pre-surgery diet prepares your body for the operation. If you use weight loss injections, you stop them at least two weeks before surgery.
Dr. K performs your procedure laparoscopically. How soon you get a date depends on how quickly your testing is finished.
Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after surgery and avoid lifting more than 20 pounds while they heal. Follow-up visits continue through your first year.
Our gastric sleeve is priced as one package, so you know the full surgical cost before you commit. Pricing for other procedures is reviewed at your consultation.
If Dr. K performs your pre-op endoscopy, the procedure itself is included, with a separate $750 hospital fee.

Debit and credit cards are accepted for any remaining balance.

Approval starts with a consultation where Dr. K reviews your weight history, past attempts to lose weight and any weight-related conditions. If surgery fits, you complete medical clearances, an upper endoscopy and a pre-surgery diet. Insurance plans that cover surgery often add their own documentation steps, and we walk you through what applies to you.
Some UnitedHealthcare plans cover bariatric surgery and others exclude it, depending on the plan your employer chose. Call the number on your member card and ask whether your plan includes weight loss surgery. Our gastric sleeve package and Cherry financing are an option whatever your coverage.
Gastric bypass creates a small pouch at the top of the stomach and connects it directly to a lower part of the small intestine. Food skips most of the stomach and the first section of the intestine, so you eat less and absorb fewer calories. It also changes the gut hormones that control hunger and blood sugar.
It depends on your starting weight, how closely you follow the post-op diet and how active you are. Weight usually comes off fastest in the first months and continues through the first year. Your follow-up visits track your progress against a plan set for you.
