One board-certified bariatric surgeon from your first consultation to your one-year checkup, with pre-op testing you can complete closer to home before making the trip south.

Each pair below is one of our own patients, operated on by Dr. Reza Keshavarzi and followed by our team through recovery.
How much weight you lose depends on the procedure, your starting point and the routine you keep afterward. Follow-up visits through the first year are part of the plan for that reason.

Some changes happen so gradually you only see them side by side: one patient's transformation.
The breakthrough is knowing when to use the right treatment, or the right combination, for each patient.
Bariatric surgery makes the stomach smaller or reroutes it, so you feel full on small portions and, with some procedures, feel less hungry between meals.
For Palm Beach County patients, that surgery takes place with Dr. Keshavarzi, who has decades of experience in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery. Most of his procedures use a few small incisions and a camera. ESG and the ORBERA balloon are done endoscopically through the mouth, with no incisions on the outside of the body.
He also oversees medical weight loss, including GLP-1 medications. Because he offers every approach, your plan starts from your health history, not from a default procedure.
Every option in this table is performed or supervised by the same surgeon, so switching approaches never means switching doctors.
| Option | What happens | Often considered when |
|---|---|---|
| Gastric Sleeve | Most of the stomach is removed laparoscopically, leaving a slim tube that fills quickly and sends fewer hunger signals. | You have a significant amount of weight to lose and want one lasting operation. An expedited path is available. |
| Low BMI Mini Sleeve | The sleeve technique adapted for patients with less weight to lose. | Standard surgical criteria leave you out, yet weight and related health issues persist. |
| Teen Gastric Sleeve | A sleeve gastrectomy for adolescents, paired with nutrition guidance and family support. | A teenager faces severe obesity and supervised diet and exercise have not worked. |
| Gastric Bypass | A small pouch is joined directly to the small intestine, reducing both intake and absorption. | Reflux, type 2 diabetes or a larger weight loss goal point toward a bypass. |
| Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) | Stitches placed through an endoscope fold the stomach into a narrower shape. | You want restriction without incisions on the abdomen. |
| ORBERA Gastric Balloon | A soft balloon is placed in the stomach endoscopically, filled, and removed later. | You prefer a temporary, nonsurgical start. |
| Medical Weight Loss | A physician-guided plan that can include GLP-1 injections, nutrition coaching and regular check-ins. | You are not ready for a procedure, or want support before or after one. |
Surgery is meant for people whose weight is affecting their health, mobility or daily life and who have not kept weight off with diet, exercise or medication alone.
A number on the scale does not decide it. Dr. K looks at your medical history, medications and goals, then tells you plainly which options fit and which do not.

MD, FACS, FASMBS. Board-certified bariatric surgeon and our lead surgeon, known to patients as Dr. K.
Dr. K performs the gastric sleeve, Mini Sleeve, teen sleeve, gastric bypass, ESG and ORBERA balloon himself and oversees medical weight loss. Patients who travel from Palm Beach County get the same direct line as everyone else: Dr. K reaches out from his personal cell phone, so questions between visits go straight to the surgeon.
Our office is in South Miami, a drive south on I-95 or Florida's Turnpike. Several steps can be finished near home, so your trips count.
Dr. K reviews your history, past attempts and goals, then recommends a procedure or a medical plan and explains why.
Medical clearances and an upper endoscopy are required. Tests can be done at our office or at a facility closer to you, and results reach us without an extra trip.
A required pre-surgery diet prepares your body for the operation. Our team sends instructions and documents by text, and patient support continues through this stage.
Once testing is complete, dates are often available within the same month. Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days later and avoid lifting over 20 pounds while healing.
Follow-up appointments for the first year are part of the sleeve package, so progress checks and diet stage changes stay with the same team.
Dr. K practices what he recommends: get outside and move, part of keeping results after surgery.

Our gastric sleeve is priced as one package, so you know the main number before you plan the trip.
The $14,000 package covers your hospital stay, the surgeon's fee, all hospital-related fees and follow-up appointments for the first year. If Dr. Keshavarzi performs your required endoscopy, the procedure itself is included in that cost and a $750 hospital fee applies. Pricing for bypass, ESG, the balloon and medical weight loss is reviewed with you once Dr. K recommends a plan.
Cherry is accepted for surgery. Debit and credit cards cover any remaining balance. One price for surgery and your first year
No. Required medical clearances can be completed at a facility near home, and an upper endoscopy done within the last 5 months is accepted. Your surgery is performed by Dr. Keshavarzi, and our team sends documents and next steps by text so fewer trips are needed along the way.
Timing depends mainly on how quickly your required tests and clearances are finished. Once they are complete, surgery dates are often available within the same month. Our team tracks what is still outstanding so nothing holds up your date.
Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after the procedure. Lifting over 20 pounds is off limits while you heal, so plan help for heavier tasks at home and at work. Your follow-up visits confirm when it is safe to return to full activity.
It depends on your health history, how much weight you want to lose and what you have already tried. Dr. K performs the gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, ESG and ORBERA balloon and also oversees medical weight loss, so the recommendation is not tied to one procedure. Some patients do well with medication and surgery used together.
Yes, but injections must be stopped at least 2 weeks before surgery. Dr. K oversees medical weight loss as well, so he can plan when to stop and whether medication has a role after your procedure.
An EGD lets the surgeon see the inside of your esophagus and stomach before operating, and it is required for every patient. It can be done elsewhere or with Dr. Keshavarzi. When he performs it, the procedure is included in your overall cost and a $750 hospital fee applies.
Dr. K talks through the questions patients bring to their first visit.
Palm Beach County patients come to one office for surgery planning and follow-up. Book a consultation and our team will map out which steps you can handle near home.
