Dr. K on matching GLP-1 medication, surgery or a combination to each patient.
Bariatric surgery reduces the size of the stomach, or changes how food passes through it, so smaller meals satisfy you and hunger quiets down.
Dr. K performs the sleeve and the bypass laparoscopically, through a few small incisions. ESG and the gastric balloon are done through the mouth with an endoscope, so there are no incisions on the abdomen.
He also oversees medical weight loss with GLP-1 medication, so his advice is not tied to one operation. Some patients need medication, some need surgery, and some do best with both in the right order.
Dr. K performs or supervises every option below, so you can weigh them side by side with one surgeon rather than collecting opinions from several offices.
| Option | Approach | Hospital time | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gastric Sleeve | Laparoscopic | Short hospital stay, included in our package | Adults with significant weight to lose. An expedited path is available. |
| Low BMI Gastric Sleeve | Laparoscopic | Short hospital stay | Our "Mini Sleeve" for adults with less to lose whose weight still affects their health. |
| Teen Gastric Sleeve | Laparoscopic | Short hospital stay | Adolescents ages 14 to 17, planned together with the family. |
| Gastric Bypass | Laparoscopic | Short stay, often a little longer than the sleeve | Patients who benefit from eating less and absorbing fewer calories. |
| Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) | Endoscopic | Usually same day | People who want a smaller stomach without abdominal incisions. |
| ORBERA Gastric Balloon | Endoscopic, temporary | Usually same day | A nonsurgical start. The balloon is removed later. |
| Medical Weight Loss | Medication and coaching | None | Patients starting with GLP-1 injections, or using them alongside surgery. |
Hospital times are typical, not fixed. Dr. K confirms yours before you choose a date.
Surgery is meant for people whose weight is affecting their health or daily life and who have not kept weight off through diet, exercise or medication.
Dr. K looks at your history, current medications and goals, and he will say plainly when a nonsurgical option is the better fit.

Our gastric sleeve package is $14,000. It includes the hospital stay, the surgeon's fee, all hospital-related fees and follow-up appointments for the first year. Other procedures are priced once Dr. K recommends a plan, and financing through Cherry offers up to 24 months at 0% interest.
Of the procedures we offer, gastric bypass usually involves the longest stay, often a little longer than the gastric sleeve. ESG and the ORBERA balloon are endoscopic procedures and are usually done the same day. Dr. K tells you what to expect for your procedure before you choose a date.
It depends on your health, your history with other approaches and what you want to change, so Dr. K weighs all three before recommending anything. For some people, medication or a nonsurgical option is the right first step. One of our patients wrote that he wished he had done it sooner, and another called it the best decision she and her husband ever made.
Florida Medicaid plans and private insurers each set their own rules for weight loss surgery, so coverage varies from plan to plan. We can talk through your options at your consultation. If you pay directly, our published package price and financing make the cost clear from the start.
