Dr. Reza Keshavarzi plans and performs every procedure himself, then stays reachable on his own cell phone from your first visit through recovery.

Every photo below belongs to a patient Dr. Keshavarzi treated. Results differ from person to person, and your plan is built around your own health history and goals.
Bariatric surgery makes the stomach smaller, or changes the route food takes through it, so you feel full on much less food and appetite signals change. It treats obesity and the conditions that travel with it, and it works alongside nutrition coaching and long-term follow-up.
Dr. Keshavarzi performs every option below. Your recommendation comes from a surgeon who can offer the whole range, so it is based on your health rather than on a single procedure.
The stomach is reshaped into a narrow sleeve through small incisions, which limits portion size and reduces hunger. It is the procedure Dr. Keshavarzi specializes in.
A gastric sleeve designed for patients with a BMI of 25 to 30 whose weight still affects their health and confidence.
Sleeve surgery for adolescents living with obesity, planned with the teen and the family together from the first visit.
A small stomach pouch is connected to a lower part of the small intestine, limiting intake and changing how food is absorbed. It is often discussed for patients with type 2 diabetes or reflux.
ESG folds and stitches the stomach from the inside using an endoscope passed through the mouth, so there are no external incisions.
A soft balloon placed in the stomach with an endoscope takes up space for a set period, helping you control portions while new habits form.
Candidacy is a medical decision, not a single number. Dr. Keshavarzi reviews your weight history, health conditions and goals before recommending any procedure.
We prescribe GLP-1 medications through our medical weight loss program and perform surgery, so the comparison below is the same one Dr. Keshavarzi walks through with patients.
| GLP-1 medication | Bariatric surgery | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | A regular injection that reduces appetite and slows how fast the stomach empties. | Reshapes or reroutes the stomach so smaller portions bring fullness. |
| How long it acts | Works while you keep taking it. | One procedure, supported by lifelong eating habits. |
| Recovery | No procedure involved. | Most patients return to work in 4 to 7 days. |
| Often suits | Less weight to lose, or patients not ready for surgery. | More weight to lose, weight-related conditions, or regain after other methods. |
Many patients use both, with medication before or after surgery. If you are on injections now, Dr. Keshavarzi plans when to stop them as part of your preparation.

Dr. Reza Keshavarzi, MD, FACS, FASMBS
Bariatric Surgeon
Dr. Keshavarzi, known to his patients as Dr. K, is the lead surgeon at Miami VIP Surgery. He completed his surgical residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital and a fellowship in laparoscopic, bariatric and robotic surgery at Jackson South Medical Center.
He conducts consultations himself, performs surgical and endoscopic procedures, and oversees medical weight loss. Patients from Lehigh Acres get the same direct line as local patients: his own cell phone number for questions before and after surgery.
Our office is in South Miami, about two and a half hours from Lehigh Acres by car. Much of the preparation can be done closer to home, so your trips are planned around the steps that need Dr. Keshavarzi.
Dr. K reviews your health and weight history, explains which procedures fit, and you leave knowing your options and what your package includes.
Labs, medical clearances and an upper endoscopy, called an EGD, are required. They can be done at a facility closer to Lehigh Acres or with a physician we recommend, and an EGD from the last five months is accepted.
You follow a pre-surgery diet from our team. GLP-1 injections stop at least two weeks before your surgery date.
Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after the procedure and avoid lifting more than 20 lbs while they heal. Dr. K checks in personally once you are home.
Follow-up appointments for the first year are part of the sleeve package, along with diet plans that take you from liquids back to regular food.
We publish our gastric sleeve price so you can plan before the first visit. Pricing for bypass, ESG, the gastric balloon and the low BMI sleeve is reviewed at your consultation.
Financing through Cherry includes plans with 24 months at 0% interest and monthly payments as low as $320.

When Dr. Keshavarzi performs your EGD, the procedure is included in your surgery cost, with a $750 hospital fee.
He has been there the whole process, provided his cell phone to make sure he could be reached at all hours.

Neither is better for everyone. GLP-1 medication works while you keep taking it and suits patients with less weight to lose or who are not ready for surgery, while surgery changes the stomach itself. Dr. Keshavarzi offers both and often combines them. If you use injections now, they stop at least two weeks before surgery.
Our patients' reviews and the results on this page show what it has meant for them. Whether it makes sense for you depends on your health, your history with diets and medication, and your goals. That is the question your consultation with Dr. Keshavarzi is built to answer.
Not for the preparation. Required labs and medical clearances can be done at a facility closer to Lehigh Acres or with a physician we recommend, and an EGD from the last five months is accepted. Your surgery is performed by Dr. Keshavarzi, and our team supports you through every step of preparation.
Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after the procedure. Avoid lifting anything heavier than 20 lbs while you heal. You follow a staged diet plan from our team as you move back to regular food.
Scheduling depends on how quickly your required tests are completed. Once your clearances and EGD are in, surgery dates are often available within the same month. Patients ready to move quickly can ask about our expedited gastric sleeve.
