A gastric sleeve, also called a sleeve gastrectomy or VSG, makes the stomach much smaller so you feel full on far less food. Dr. Keshavarzi performs it laparoscopically, working through a few small incisions with a camera and long, thin instruments.
During the operation he removes the larger, stretchy outer curve of the stomach. What remains is a narrow tube about the shape of a banana. Food still travels the same path through your stomach and intestines, so nothing is rerouted and the sleeve does not rely on an implanted device.
When the evaluation finds a hiatal hernia, it can often be repaired during the same operation. Because Dr. Keshavarzi also performs gastric bypass, ESG and the gastric balloon, your consultation compares the sleeve with real alternatives rather than steering every patient to one surgery.

Dr. K conducts every consultation himself and decides with you whether a sleeve fits your health. Patients who do well with a gastric sleeve usually share several of these traits.
Not quite the standard sleeve patient? Dr. Keshavarzi also offers a low BMI Mini Sleeve for patients with less weight to lose, and a teen gastric sleeve program for ages 14 to 17.
Dr. Keshavarzi performs all four of these procedures, so the comparison you get in consultation is a real choice. This overview shows how they differ in approach.
| Gastric Sleeve | Gastric Bypass | ESG | ORBERA Balloon | |

MD, FACS, FASMBS. Board-certified bariatric surgeon
Dr. Keshavarzi, known to patients as Dr. K, is our lead surgeon and brings decades of experience in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery. Gastric sleeve surgery is the focus of his work, alongside bypass, ESG, the ORBERA balloon and medical weight loss.
He stays involved after surgery too, keeping in touch with patients from his own cell phone during recovery.
Scheduling moves as fast as your pre-surgery tests do, and our team supports you through every part of the preparation.
Dr. K reviews your weight history, health conditions and goals, then explains whether a sleeve or another option fits you better. You leave knowing the plan, the cost and the next steps.
Medical clearances and an upper endoscopy (EGD) are required. Tests can be done at our clinic or an outside facility, and our recommended doctor returns results within 48 hours. Dr. Keshavarzi can perform the EGD himself.
A pre-surgery diet prepares your body for the operation. If you take weight loss injections, they are stopped at least 2 weeks before your surgery date.
Dr. Keshavarzi performs your sleeve through small incisions. Your hospital stay is part of the package price.

Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after the procedure. Early on, avoid lifting more than 20 pounds and follow the staged diet plans we provide.
Your follow-up appointments for the first year are included, so Dr. K can track your progress, adjust your nutrition and catch questions early.
We publish one package price so you can plan with confidence. Your consultation confirms what applies to your case.
$14,000
If Dr. Keshavarzi performs your pre-op endoscopy, the procedure itself is included in the package and a $750 hospital fee applies.

We walk through financing options with you during your consultation.
