Checking In From Your Bariatric Psychologist

Dr. Rose Huber, PsyD, the Bariatric Psychologist at Miami VIP Surgery, checks in with patients at every stage: what she offers, her 20 years of experience, and supporting her own mother through weight loss surgery with Dr. Keshavarzi.

Hi there,

I wanted to take a moment to personally reach out, say hello, and see how you’re doing!

I’m Dr. Rose Huber, the dedicated Bariatric Psychologist at Miami VIP Surgery. Whether you’re still considering weight loss surgery, exploring one of our nonsurgical options, preparing for treatment, or have been a patient of ours for years, I want you to know I’m here for you.

Weight Loss Programs at Miami VIP Surgery

At Miami VIP Surgery, we offer gastric sleeve surgery, including our Expedited Self-Pay Sleeve, Low BMI Mini Sleeve (BMI 25–30), and Adolescent Sleeve (ages 14–17), as well as gastric bypass, endoscopic options such as ESG and the ORBERA gastric balloon, medical weight management, and concierge medicine.

Whatever program you’re considering or have already chosen, my goal is to support you along the way.

A Little About Me

I’ve worked with patients for approximately 20 years and was fortunate to be selected for one of just 10 nationally available postdoctoral fellowship positions in bariatric psychology. That opportunity originally brought me to Miami.

Prior to my fellowship, while in residency, I discovered my passion for health psychology and began making some meaningful changes in my own life. It helped shape the way I approach my work today.

I’ve always believed that weight loss and overall wellness are about so much more than diet and exercise. Our thoughts, emotions, habits, and life experiences all influence our health. Sometimes having someone to listen, offer guidance, or simply provide encouragement can make a meaningful difference.

Supporting My Own Mother Through Weight Loss Surgery

About six years ago, I also helped my own mother through her weight loss surgery journey. Being by her side gave me an entirely new appreciation for what patients and their families experience. I understand this journey not only as a clinical psychologist who has spent years helping patients, but also as a daughter supporting someone I love.

Meet my mom, Shirley! From 235 pounds to 130 pounds.

Her journey is especially close to my heart. When it came to my own mother’s surgery, there was no one I trusted more than Dr. Keshavarzi. Supporting her through this life-changing experience, both as a daughter and a psychologist, gave me an even deeper appreciation for the incredible journeys our patients and their families share.

So, How Are You Doing?

I’d really love to hear from you!

  • If you’re still considering one of our programs, I’m happy to answer questions, talk through concerns, or help you explore your options with Dr. Keshavarzi.
  • If you’re already a patient, I’d love to hear about your progress, how you’re feeling, and whether there’s anything I can do to support you.
  • If it’s been a while since we’ve connected, that’s perfectly fine too. Life gets busy, plans change, and sometimes we simply need a little time. You’re always welcome to reconnect.

There’s no pressure, no judgment, and no obligation. I just wanted to check in and remind you that I’m here.
