There is no single weight loss operation. Dr. K offers surgical, endoscopic and nonsurgical approaches, so your plan is shaped by your health, not by one go-to method.

Candidacy

Who Is a Good Candidate for Weight Loss Surgery

Your weight alone does not decide whether surgery is right for you. Dr. K considers how your weight has changed over time, related health conditions, past attempts to lose weight and how prepared you are for life after surgery.

  • You have struggled to keep weight off through diet, exercise or medication.
  • Your weight is linked to conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea or joint pain.
  • You are ready to follow a pre-surgery diet and to change how you eat for the long term.
  • You can complete medical clearances and an upper endoscopy before surgery.
  • You use a GLP-1 injection and want to know whether medication, surgery or both makes sense.

For some people, another step makes sense first, like bringing a health condition under control. You might start with an endoscopic procedure or medical weight loss.

Why the right answer is sometimes GLP-1 medication, sometimes surgery and sometimes both.

Questions

FAQ About Bariatric Surgery in Royal Palm Beach, FL

Must I travel from Royal Palm Beach to consult?

No. Your first conversation with Dr. K can be a virtual consultation from home. The trip to South Miami comes later, for the surgery itself, after your plan and testing are complete.

How much does bariatric surgery cost in Florida?

Our gastric sleeve package is $14,000, including the hospital stay and first-year follow-up, and Cherry financing is available. Pricing for other procedures is reviewed at your consultation.

What disqualifies you for bariatric surgery?

Usually no one factor rules you out. Dr. K looks at your medical history, the medications you take, your clearances and how ready you are for new eating habits after surgery. When surgery is not the best place to begin, you may start with an endoscopic procedure or medical weight loss.

Can I get pre-surgery tests near Royal Palm Beach?

Yes. You can complete the required clearances and upper endoscopy with us or at an outside facility closer to home, whether that is in Royal Palm Beach, Wellington or West Palm Beach. We tell you which tests you need, and Dr. K reviews the results.

How long does it take to lose 50 pounds after weight loss surgery?

That varies with your starting weight, your procedure and how well you stick to the diet after surgery. Most people lose weight fastest in the early months. At your consultation, Dr. K gives you an honest estimate for the procedure you choose.

Can I keep taking my GLP-1 injection before surgery?

You need to stop them at least two weeks before your operation. Dr. K can also help you decide whether medication, surgery or a mix of both suits your goals.
