What Is Bariatric Surgery in Sarasota, FL

Bariatric surgery makes the stomach smaller. Meals that once took a full plate now fill you up, and the hunger hormones that pull weight back after a diet quiet down.

Dr. Keshavarzi performs surgical and nonsurgical options under one roof. Your recommendation comes from your BMI, health conditions and history, so you are not fitted to the one operation a program happens to offer.

  • Gastric Sleeve

About three quarters of the stomach is removed, leaving a narrow sleeve. Dr. K's main focus, with an expedited path for ready patients.

  • Low BMI Mini Sleeve

A sleeve for patients with a BMI of 25 to 30 whose weight still affects their health.

  • Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty

The stomach is stitched narrower from the inside through an endoscope, with no incisions on the skin.

Candidates

Who Is a Good Candidate for Weight Loss Surgery

Dr. K confirms candidacy after reviewing your health history. These are the situations patients most often bring to the first conversation.

  • You have lost weight more than once and watched it return each time
  • Your weight is tied to diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea or sore knees and hips
  • Your BMI sits between 25 and 30, yet your weight still affects your health
  • Your teenager, 14 to 17, faces health problems linked to weight
  • Weight loss injections stopped working or cost more than you want to keep paying
  • You are ready for a pre-surgery diet and smaller, protein-first meals afterward

Not sure surgery is the answer? Every consultation covers the nonsurgical options too.

Questions

FAQ About Bariatric Surgery in Sarasota, FL

Answers to what Sarasota patients ask before their first call with Dr. K.

Dr. K's reminder for life after surgery: get outside and move.

How much does bariatric surgery cost in Florida?

Our gastric sleeve package is $14,000. It covers your hospital stay, the surgeon's fee, all hospital-related fees and follow-up appointments for the first year. Financing through Cherry offers 0% interest for 24 months, with payments as low as $320 a month. Other procedures are priced during your consultation.

Do I have to wait months before surgery?

Your timing depends on how quickly your medical clearances and endoscopy are completed, not on a fixed waiting period. Once they are done, surgery dates are often available within the same month. Patients who are ready to move quickly can ask about our expedited gastric sleeve.

How many trips to Miami will I need from Sarasota, FL?

Plan on one trip for surgery and your hospital stay. Your first conversation with Dr. K can take place by phone or through a virtual consultation, and testing can be done with doctors near Sarasota. Dr. K schedules any in-person follow-up with you so travel stays to a minimum.

Is weight loss surgery worth it?

For many patients whose weight returned after diets or medication, surgery gives a more lasting result because it changes how much the stomach holds and how hungry they feel. Whether it is right for you depends on your health and your readiness to eat differently afterward. Dr. K will also tell you when a nonsurgical option fits better.

Can I use an endoscopy I already had?

Yes, if it was performed within the last 5 months. If Dr. Keshavarzi performs your endoscopy instead, the procedure is included in your surgery cost and a $750 hospital fee applies.

When can I go back to work after bariatric surgery?

Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after their procedure. For the first weeks you should not lift more than 20 pounds, and you follow the diet stages our team gives you. Our diet plans are available on our website.
