Dr. Reza Keshavarzi operates on every sleeve patient himself, and one $14,000 package covers your hospital stay, his fee and a full year of follow-up visits.
BeforeAfterEvery photo and clip here comes from a patient Dr. K treated. How much you lose depends on your starting point, your health and how closely you keep to the eating plan after surgery.

The gastric sleeve, or laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, makes the stomach permanently smaller. Dr. K removes roughly 75 to 80 percent of it through a few small incisions, using a camera rather than one large open cut.
What remains is a narrow tube about the shape of a banana. The part that comes out is the stretchy outer curve, which produces much of ghrelin, the hormone that drives hunger. Because no intestine is bypassed, food still travels the same route it always has.
Our office is in South Miami, and Davie patients have the same surgeon, the same hospital team and the same year of follow-up care as patients who live around the corner. Most of the testing before surgery can be done near home, so the drive south is saved for the visits that need Dr. K in person.

Dr. K recommends a sleeve after reviewing your health, your weight history and what you want from surgery. These are the reasons Davie patients most often give for booking a first visit.
Conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea or joint pain that your doctor links to your weight.
You have lost weight more than once through diets or programs, and it found its way back each time.
Injections helped at first and then plateaued, or you would rather not depend on medication indefinitely.
If your BMI falls below the usual surgical range, our Low BMI Mini Sleeve may be the better fit.
Dr. K performs sleeves for adolescents with obesity through our Teen Gastric Sleeve program.
The sleeve works alongside smaller, protein-first meals, and you are prepared to keep those habits for the long term.
Not ready for surgery? Dr. K also offers Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty, the ORBERA gastric balloon and medical weight loss, and he will tell you honestly which one suits you.
Dr. K performs all three procedures and also oversees medical weight loss, so the comparison you get at your consultation has no reason to favor one route.
| Gastric sleeve | Gastric bypass | ESG | GLP-1 injections | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it changes | Removes most of the stomach and leaves a slim tube | Creates a small pouch and reroutes part of the intestine | Folds the stomach smaller with stitches placed from the inside | Medication that lowers appetite and slows digestion |
| Incisions | A few small laparoscopic incisions | A few small laparoscopic incisions | None, done through the mouth with an endoscope | None |
| Intestines rerouted | No | Yes | No | No |
| Hunger hormone tissue | Mostly removed | Left in place, bypassed by food | Left in place | Unchanged, appetite is lowered by the drug |
| Often chosen when | You want substantial weight loss without rerouting | Severe reflux or diabetes makes rerouting worthwhile | You want a smaller stomach without surgery | You want to start without a procedure, or pair it with one |
Choosing a sleeve does not rule out medication. Some patients start with GLP-1 injections and move to surgery when progress slows, while others use medication after their sleeve to support the result.
Injections are paused at least two weeks before your operation, and Dr. K decides with you whether they have a place afterward.

A sleeve gastrectomy is the medical name for the gastric sleeve. Through a few small incisions, roughly 75 to 80 percent of the stomach is removed and a narrow tube is left behind. The intestines are not rerouted, so food follows its usual path.
No surgeon can promise a number, because early loss depends on your starting weight, how closely you follow each eating stage and how active you are. Weight tends to come off fastest in the first few months. One of our patients wrote in her Google review that she was 60 pounds down four months after her sleeve. Dr. K reviews your progress at each follow-up visit.
It depends on your health, your history with other methods and your readiness to change how you eat. Many of our reviews come from patients who are years past surgery and still under Dr. K's care. The consultation is where you weigh the sleeve against medication, ESG or bypass with the surgeon who would operate.
Yes. Required labs and medical clearances can be completed at a facility near you or with us. An upper endoscopy done elsewhere within the last five months is accepted, so you may not need to repeat it.
No. Every sleeve patient pays the same $14,000 package, which includes the hospital stay, the surgeon's fee, all hospital-related fees and follow-up appointments for the first year. Cherry financing offers 24 months at 0% interest, with payments as low as $320 a month.
Most patients are back at work 4 to 7 days after surgery. Lifting over 20 pounds stays off limits until Dr. K clears you.
Yes. Weight loss injections have to be stopped at least two weeks before your sleeve. Dr. K plans whether and when medication has a role after surgery.
Dr. K also performs a Low BMI Mini Sleeve for patients whose weight still affects their health but who fall below the usual range for surgery. Your consultation shows whether the standard sleeve, the mini sleeve or a nonsurgical option fits better.
