Dr. Reza Keshavarzi performs every sleeve himself and stays with you from the first consultation to your one-year follow-up, all for one published package price.

A gastric sleeve, also called a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, removes about three quarters of the stomach and leaves a slim tube in its place. Dr. K works through a few small incisions with a camera, so there is no large open cut.
The section he removes is the stretchy outer curve of the stomach, which is also where much of the hunger hormone ghrelin is made. Nothing is rerouted, which is the main difference between a sleeve and a gastric bypass.
Patients from Hollywood get the same operation, surgeon and first year of follow-up visits as patients who live near our South Miami office. We plan the steps before surgery so most of the preparation happens close to home.

Dr. K weighs your health history, past attempts and goals together before recommending surgery. These are the situations Hollywood patients most often bring to a first visit.
Diets, programs or injections took weight off, and it came back once they stopped.
Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, reflux or joint pain that your doctor connects to your weight.
Weight loss injections worked at first and then plateaued, or you want a result that does not rely on taking them for life.
Some patients have a hiatal hernia repaired in the same operation as their sleeve, so one recovery covers both.
You are prepared to follow the pre-surgery diet, move through staged eating afterward and keep your first-year visits.
With a BMI of 25 to 30, our Low BMI Mini Sleeve may be the better match.
Teens aged 14 to 17 are evaluated through our Teen Gastric Sleeve program. If you would rather avoid incisions, ask about ESG or the ORBERA gastric balloon at the same consultation.
Many Hollywood patients arrive choosing between surgery, an endoscopic procedure and medication. Dr. K performs the sleeve and ESG and oversees medical weight loss, so all three are weighed in one consultation.
| At a glance | Gastric sleeve | ESG | Weight loss injections |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it works | About three quarters of the stomach is removed, leaving a slim tube | Stitches placed through an endoscope fold the stomach into a narrower shape | A prescription medication lowers appetite |
| Incisions | A few small laparoscopic incisions | None, done through the mouth | None |
| Stomach tissue removed | Yes | No | No |
| Effect on hunger | Removes much of the tissue that makes the hunger hormone | Smaller capacity, hunger tissue stays in place | Works while you keep taking it |
| Often considered for | Significant, lasting weight loss without rerouting the intestines | A smaller stomach without surgery | Starting without a procedure, or pairing with one |
Patients do not always pick just one route. Some start on medication and later move to a sleeve, and others use medication alongside surgery to support their progress.
Dr. K plans how medication fits before and after your sleeve, so the two work together rather than against each other.

Most of the time before surgery goes to testing and preparation, and much of it can happen without leaving Broward County.

You follow a pre-surgery diet, and weight loss injections are stopped at least two weeks before your date. Once testing is complete, surgery dates often open within the current month.

No single weight cutoff decides it on its own. Dr. K looks at your weight relative to your height together with conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnea. Patients with a BMI of 25 to 30 whose weight still affects their health may fit our Low BMI Mini Sleeve, and your consultation settles which option applies.
It varies with your starting weight, how closely you follow the eating stages and how active you are, and weight usually comes off fastest in the first months. One of our patients wrote in her Google review that she was 60 pounds down at four months after her sleeve. Dr. K tracks your progress at every follow-up visit and adjusts your plan.
That depends on your health, your goals and your readiness to change how you eat, which is exactly what the consultation is for. Our patients' reviews describe lasting weight loss and continued care from Dr. K years after surgery. The sleeve package also includes a full year of follow-up visits, so you are not on your own after the operation.
Your consultation, surgery and follow-up visits are with Dr. K. Lab work and medical clearances can be done at a facility closer to home, and an upper endoscopy performed elsewhere within the last five months is accepted. That keeps the number of drives to our office down.
