Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy with Dr. Reza Keshavarzi, a board-certified, fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon, in one $14,000 package that covers your hospital stay and a full year of follow-up visits.

Every pair below is a patient Dr. K treated with a gastric sleeve, photographed before surgery and after their weight loss.

Results vary from patient to patient.
A gastric sleeve, or sleeve gastrectomy, removes most of the stomach and leaves a narrow tube that holds far less food.
Dr. K performs the operation laparoscopically, through a few small incisions with a camera and slim instruments, so there is no large open incision. Your intestines stay exactly where they are, which is the main difference between a sleeve and a gastric bypass. Before surgery you need an upper endoscopy, and Dr. K can perform it himself. When that scope shows a hiatal hernia, it can be repaired during the same operation, as one of our patients describes below.
The sleeve fills quickly, so you feel satisfied on small portions and eat fewer calories without constant willpower.
The upper part of the stomach that is removed produces most of ghrelin, the hormone that drives appetite, so cravings usually ease.
Food still passes through the stomach and the whole small intestine, so nutrients are absorbed along the usual path.
Candidacy rests on your BMI and on how your weight affects your health, not on a single number of pounds. The sleeve is often a strong fit when:
The standard laparoscopic sleeve for adults whose weight is affecting their health.
For patients with a lower BMI who carry less excess weight than traditional guidelines require.
A sleeve program for adolescents, planned together with the family.
Surgery scheduled as soon as your required tests are complete, with lab results back in about 48 hours.
How quickly you reach surgery depends mostly on how fast your pre-op testing is finished. Here is the path most of our patients follow.
Dr. K reviews your health history, past weight loss attempts and goals, then explains which sleeve option fits and what your plan costs.
You complete medical clearances and an upper endoscopy. Tests can be done with our recommended physician, with results in about 48 hours, or with your own doctors. An endoscopy from the last five months is accepted.
You follow a required pre-surgery diet. If you use weight loss injections, you stop them at least two weeks before your surgery date.
Dr. K performs the sleeve through small incisions in the hospital. Your hospital stay is part of your package.
Most patients return to work within a week. Avoid lifting more than 20 pounds until Dr. K clears you, and follow the staged post-op diet.
Your follow-up appointments for the first year after surgery are included, so progress checks never become an extra bill.
Dr. K offers all four of these, so your consultation is a straight comparison rather than a sales pitch for one procedure.
| Gastric Sleeve | Gastric Bypass | ESG | GLP-1 Medication | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What changes | Most of the stomach is removed, leaving a narrow sleeve. The intestines are untouched. | A small stomach pouch is connected to the small intestine, so food skips part of it. | Stitches placed from inside fold the stomach smaller. Nothing is removed. | No change to your anatomy. A weekly medication reduces appetite. |
| How it is done | Laparoscopic surgery through small incisions, with a hospital stay. | Laparoscopic surgery through small incisions, with a hospital stay. | Endoscopic, through the mouth, with no incisions. | Injections at home under medical supervision. |
| How it curbs hunger | A smaller stomach plus less of the hunger hormone ghrelin. | A small pouch plus changes in gut hormones. | A smaller stomach that fills sooner. | Mimics a gut hormone that signals fullness. |
| Often a fit for | Patients who want lasting surgical results and a normal digestion route. | Patients for whom Dr. K advises rerouting, such as those with significant reflux. | Patients who prefer a nonsurgical procedure. | Patients starting without surgery, or pairing medication with a sleeve. |
Many patients arrive already using a GLP-1 medication and wonder whether they still need surgery. In this rapid-fire clip, Dr. K walks through how he decides between bariatric surgery and injections for each patient.
The answer is not always one or the other. Medication can bridge the months before surgery or support you afterward, and Dr. K builds that timing into your plan.

Dr. Reza Keshavarzi, known to patients as Dr. K, is a board-certified bariatric surgeon and our lead surgeon. He completed his surgical residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital and a fellowship in laparoscopic, bariatric and robotic surgery at Jackson South Medical Center. He earned his medical degree with High Distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine after graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Louisville.
Dr. K runs your care himself, from the first consultation through surgery and the year of follow-up that comes with it. Patients often mention that he stays reachable throughout the process.
Dr. K practices what he preaches. Staying active, eating well and keeping a healthy weight are part of his own life, and he coaches sleeve patients toward the same habits after surgery.
We publish our price because the first question most patients have is what the whole surgery costs, not just the surgeon's fee.
Need your pre-op endoscopy? When Dr. K performs it, the procedure is included in your surgical cost and only the hospital's $750 fee applies.

Cherry financing lets you spread the cost of your sleeve over time.
Debit and credit cards are accepted for any remaining balance, and our team walks you through every option at your consultation.

Straight answers to the questions patients ask us most before a sleeve. Dr. K answers anything specific to your own health at your consultation.
It varies with your starting weight, how closely you follow the post-op diet and how active you are. Weight usually comes off fastest in the first few months, and most of the loss happens during the first year. One of our patients shared that she was 60 pounds down at four months post-op, and another reached 70 pounds at one year. Dr. K will give you a realistic estimate for your own body at your consultation.
Candidacy depends on your BMI together with weight-related conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or sleep apnea, not on a set number of pounds. If you carry less excess weight than traditional guidelines require, Dr. K also performs a Low BMI Mini Sleeve. He will review your history and tell you which option, if any, fits you.
Weight loss injections must be stopped at least two weeks before surgery. Many patients come to us already using a GLP-1 medication, and Dr. K plans the timing with you. After surgery, medication can be part of your long-term plan when it helps.
Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after the procedure. You should not lift more than 20 pounds until Dr. K clears you, so a physical job may need a longer break or lighter duties at first.
Yes. An upper endoscopy, also called an EGD, and medical clearances are required before surgery. An EGD done within the last five months is accepted, and you can have it done elsewhere or with Dr. K. When Dr. K performs it, the procedure is included in your surgical cost and only the $750 hospital fee applies.
Yes. A pre-surgery diet is required, and after surgery you move through staged diet phases as your new stomach heals. Our diet plans are published on our website, and your first year of follow-up visits keeps your nutrition on track.
