Every procedure is performed by Dr. Reza Keshavarzi, a fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon who stays reachable on his own cell phone from your first visit through recovery.

BeforeAfterBariatric surgery reduces the size of the stomach, or changes how food moves through it, so you feel full on far less food and hunger quiets down. Dr. Keshavarzi performs the sleeve and bypass laparoscopically, through small incisions guided by a camera. The endoscopic options are done through the mouth with no incisions at all.
Our team offers every option in the table below, from the gastric sleeve to GLP-1 medications. That matters when you are comparing surgeons: your recommendation comes from your health history and goals, not from the one procedure a practice happens to perform. When it helps, Dr. K combines treatments, for example medication before surgery or nutrition coaching after it.
Our approach: GLP-1 medications, bariatric surgery, nutrition coaching, psychological support and concierge follow-up, combined when it fits you.
| Procedure | How it works | Often a fit for |
|---|---|---|
| Gastric sleeve | Most of the stomach is removed, leaving a narrow sleeve that holds much less and produces less of the hormone that drives hunger. | Adults with significant weight to lose. This is Dr. K's main focus. |
| Gastric bypass | A small stomach pouch is connected directly to the small intestine, limiting both how much you eat and how much you absorb. | Patients with severe acid reflux or type 2 diabetes, or a history that points away from a sleeve. |
| Low BMI Mini Sleeve | A gastric sleeve adapted for patients carrying less excess weight. | Adults with a lower BMI whose weight has not responded to diet or medication. |
| Teen gastric sleeve | The sleeve procedure paired with nutrition and exercise coaching from Dr. K and support for teens and parents. | Adolescents aged 14 to 17 and their families. |
| Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, ESG | The stomach is folded and stitched from the inside with an endoscope, with no incisions. | Patients who want a smaller stomach without surgery. |
| ORBERA gastric balloon | A soft balloon placed through the mouth takes up space in the stomach for a set period, then is removed. | Patients who want a temporary, nonsurgical start. |
| Medical weight loss | A physician-supervised plan that can include GLP-1 medications, with personalized nutrition guidance. | Patients not ready for a procedure, or preparing for one. |
Candidacy is a medical decision made with Dr. K after he reviews your health history. These are the situations that most often bring patients to us.
You have followed structured diets or programs, lost weight, and watched it return. A sleeve or bypass changes the hunger signals that make that cycle so hard to break.
High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, acid reflux or joint pain are tied to your weight and getting harder to manage.
You do not have a large amount to lose, but nothing moves the scale. The Mini Sleeve was built for exactly this patient.
Our teen program pairs the sleeve with coaching from Dr. K and support for the whole family, so habits change at home too.
If injections have stalled or you want a longer-term answer, surgery can be the next step. Injections are stopped at least two weeks before surgery.
A hiatal hernia can often be repaired during the same operation as the sleeve, as one of our patients describes in her review.

Dr. K reviews your weight history and health, explains which procedures fit and why, and answers every question before you decide.
You complete medical clearances and an upper endoscopy, or EGD. Tests can be done at our clinic or at an outside facility near you.
A pre-surgery diet prepares your body for the operation, and our team supports you through it. Weight loss injections stop at least two weeks before.
Dr. K performs your procedure, and your recovery begins with a hospital stay under his care.
Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after the procedure. Lifting anything over 20 pounds stays off limits while you heal.
Follow-up visits for the first year are part of your package, with diet guidance as you move from liquids back to regular food.
Gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. K is offered as a single package, so the number you see covers the surgeon, the hospital and a full year of follow-up. Pricing for bypass, ESG, the gastric balloon and medical weight loss is reviewed with you at your consultation.
Financing for surgery is available through Cherry, and debit and credit cards are accepted for any remaining balance.A before and after shows the change. It cannot show the decision, the commitment and the hard days in between.

Approval starts with a consultation where Dr. K reviews your weight history, your health conditions and what you have already tried. Before surgery you complete medical clearances and an upper endoscopy, or EGD, and follow a pre-surgery diet. Surgery is scheduled once those results are in, so the pace depends largely on how quickly you finish your testing.
No. Required tests can be done at our clinic or at an outside facility closer to home, and an EGD done elsewhere within the last 5 months is accepted. Your surgery and follow-up visits are with Dr. K, so those take place with our South Miami team.
If Dr. K performs your EGD, the procedure itself is included in your overall cost and a $750 hospital fee applies. You can also use a recent EGD from another provider if it was done within the last 5 months.
It depends on your starting weight, your procedure and how closely you follow the diet and activity plan, and weight typically comes off fastest in the first months after a sleeve. One of our patients shared that they were 45 pounds down six weeks after surgery. Dr. K gives you a realistic range for your own case at your consultation.
That is a personal decision, and Dr. K helps you weigh it against your health, your goals and your past attempts. Several of our patients describe it in their Google reviews as the best decision they have made.
Weight loss injections must be stopped at least two weeks before surgery. Dr. K also prescribes GLP-1 medications in our medical weight loss program, so he can tell you whether medication, surgery or a combination fits you.
