Miami VIP Surgery Dr. Reza Keshavarzi Earned FACS

In 2013, the American College of Surgeons celebrated its 100-year anniversary. Since the early 1900’s, the goal of this institution has been to improve the quality of care patients receive by setting high standards of education for those who are entering the medical community. Medical professionals who are granted membership in the American College of Surgeons (ACS) are called Fellows. So, when you see a surgeon who has the letters FACS after their name, it means that they belong to the American College of Surgeons.

Belonging to the ACS is not simply a matter of having membership in a club. Instead, it is a testament to the fact that the surgeon has been tested in every respect. Their education, their training, their qualification, their competence, and even their adherence to an ethical code of conduct have been rigorously reviewed. Doctors who have FACS membership are connected to better training, better resources, and are held to a higher standard than those who do not.

The American College of Surgeons is very active in educating the medical community. Some of the continuing educational programs they sponsor include the Clinical Congress. This allows surgeons to keep up-to-date with everything new in the medical field.

Through the years, the American College of Surgeons has been at the heart of encouraging hospitals to create programs to provide cancer patients with the best care possible. This is done via a variety of programs connected to its Commission on Cancer.

The ACS has a Committee on Trauma focused on improving the care that critically ill individuals receive when they are in route from the scene of an accident or other incident in an ambulance. It also is committed to improving the care that trauma patients receive while they are in the hospital.

The ACS is the largest collection of professional, scientific, as well as educational surgeons on the planet, boasting more than 80,000 members. The ACS Clinical Congress is among the largest collection of medical meetings on the planet.

Reza Keshavarzi, MD, FACS specializes in minimally-invasive and bariatric surgery. In addition to the ACS membership, Dr. Keshavarzi is board-certified, a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, and has completed an advanced laparoscopic, bariatric, and robotic surgery fellowship at Jackson South Community Hospital.

Dr. Keshavarzi is committed to using his training to help individuals who are battling obesity or diseases that are related to being overweight. These diseases include things like gallstones, gastroesophageal reflux, and hernias.

Dr. Keshavarzi is proud to be a member of the ACS. The training he has received at this as well as other prestigious institutions of learning has molded him into the compassionate, hard-working, meticulous, skilled surgeon that he is today. He sees his patients at Miami VIP Surgery as individuals, taking the time to treat them like family members.
