Dr. Rose Huber
Dr. Rose Huber is a fellowship-trained bariatric psychologist at Miami VIP Surgery specializing in pre-surgical evaluations and follow-up care for patients undergoing weight loss surgery. With a focus on weight counseling and behavioral health, Dr. Huber provides essential support to help patients navigate their bariatric decisions and the lifestyle changes that accompany them. Our team understands that clients seek expert guidance, and Dr. Huber embodies the highest standards of care in the field of bariatric psychology.
Quality of care is our objective in every psychological evaluation we conduct. Dr. Huber’s comprehensive understanding of clients’ goals prepares them mentally for the challenges that lie ahead. She assists patients in recognizing potential barriers, empowering them to overcome obstacles and achieve sustainable weight loss.
Dr. Huber completed her training in Texas, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity University, a Master of Arts from Houston Baptist University, and a Doctorate in Psychology from the APA-accredited program at Our Lady of the Lake University. Her extensive training includes a practicum at the South Texas VA, an internship at the Central Texas VA, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology at the Miami VA. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Florida (PY7973) and Texas (PY35078).
With a wealth of experience, Dr. Huber has conducted individual, family, couple, and group psychotherapy, as well as surgical, psychological, and neuropsychological evaluations for patients with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, sleep disorders, weight issues, and gastrointestinal disorders. She has a strong focus on helping individuals lose weight and lead healthier, happier lives.
Dr. Huber’s expertise in bariatric psychology includes conducting pre-surgical psychological evaluations and offering follow-up treatment for patients being considered for weight loss surgery. Her background in behavioral medicine and family systems allows her to address the challenges faced by both individuals and families during this transformative process.
A proponent of the mind-body connection, Dr. Huber employs a strength-based, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral approach, believing that everyone has the potential to overcome their challenges and improve their quality of life.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Huber is affiliated with Baptist Health South Miami Hospital and has previously worked with Holy Cross Hospital and Jackson South Community Hospital. She has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Psychology Departments at Barry University and Our Lady of the Lake University. Dr. Huber is also a licensed Mental Health Counselor Supervisor in Florida and is actively involved in professional organizations, including the Association of Behavioral Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), Miami-Dade County Psychological Association (MDPA), Florida Psychological Association (FPA), Texas Psychological Association (TPA), and the American Psychological Association (APA).
Recognized for her contributions, Dr. Huber is a National Register Health Service Provider in Psychology and received the National Registry Early Career Psychologist Award in 2011. She was honored with the Best of Fort Lauderdale Award in the Psychologists category for three consecutive years (2011-2013) and named Best of Coral Gables Psychologists in 2015. Additionally, she received the American Insurance Trust Longevity Award in 2014.
