BeforeAfterBariatric surgery reduces how much the stomach holds and changes the hunger signals it sends, so patients eat smaller portions and feel full sooner. Dr. Keshavarzi trained in minimally invasive surgery and performs these procedures through small incisions or, for ESG, with no incisions at all.
There is no single right operation. Dr. K offers surgical and nonsurgical options under one roof, so the recommendation starts from your health history and goals rather than from the one procedure a clinic happens to perform.
Removes most of the stomach and leaves a narrow sleeve that holds far less food. The procedure Dr. K specializes in.
Gastric sleeveA "Mini Sleeve" for patients with a lower BMI whose weight still affects their health.
Mini SleeveCreates a small stomach pouch and reroutes part of the small intestine to limit intake and absorption.
Gastric bypassStitches placed from inside the stomach with an endoscope narrow it without external incisions.
ESGA temporary balloon placed in the stomach takes up space and helps patients control portions.
Gastric balloonSleeve surgery for adolescents ages 14 to 17, planned with the family.
Teen sleevePersonalized plans built by our weight loss specialists, including weight loss injections.
Medical weight lossCandidacy is decided in consultation, after Dr. K reviews your health history. Patients who reach us from Lee County usually recognize themselves in one or more of these.
Not sure where you fit? That question is exactly what the first conversation with Dr. K is for, and nonsurgical options are always part of it.
Our South Miami office is roughly a two and a half to three hour drive from Fort Myers and Cape Coral. We plan each step so the drive across the state is saved for the days that truly need it.
Start with a virtual consultation or meet Dr. K in our office. He reviews your history, explains which procedures fit and answers your questions himself.
Medical clearances and an endoscopy are required. Tests can be done at a facility close to home or with us.
You follow the pre-surgery diet our team provides, and any weight loss injections stop at least two weeks before surgery.
Your surgery and hospital stay are covered in one package. Patients often hear from Dr. K directly once they are discharged.
Most patients return to work 4 to 7 days after surgery and avoid lifting over 20 pounds. First-year follow-up is included, and some visits can happen by phone.

Many patients ask whether a medication such as Ozempic can replace surgery. We offer both, so the advice is not tilted toward one, and Dr. K takes on the question himself in the short clip on this page.
| Weight loss injections | Gastric sleeve | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | A regular medication that reduces appetite and slows digestion | Surgery that removes most of the stomach so it holds much less |
| Commitment | Ongoing use, managed with your provider | One procedure, followed by lifelong eating habits |
| Often considered for | A nonsurgical start or less weight to lose | More weight to lose or weight-related health conditions |
| With us | Part of our Medical Weight Loss program | Performed by Dr. K, with a Mini Sleeve option for lower BMI |
| Combined plans | Dr. K may pair medication and surgery when that serves your goals better than either alone. | |
Rapid-fire questions with Dr. K, including medication versus surgery.
Our gastric sleeve package is one published price, the same for patients who travel from Lee County, and financing can spread it into monthly payments.
One price covers the hospital, the surgeon and a full year of follow-up care. Pricing for other procedures is reviewed during your consultation.
Answers to the questions Lee County patients ask most before their first conversation with Dr. K.
It depends on your starting weight, how closely you follow the eating plan and how active you are. Weight usually comes off fastest in the first months and continues through the first year. Your follow-up visits that year are included in our package, so Dr. K's team tracks your progress and adjusts the plan along the way.
For patients who have tried diets and medication without lasting results, surgery is often the tool that finally changes the pattern. Many of our reviews come from patients who say it changed their life and that they wish they had done it sooner. Dr. K will tell you honestly in consultation whether surgery or a nonsurgical option fits you better.
Yes, an endoscopy performed within the last 5 months is accepted, and it can be done elsewhere. If Dr. Keshavarzi performs it, the procedure itself is included in your surgery cost and a $750 hospital fee applies.
Scheduling depends on how quickly your required tests and clearances are completed. Once they are in, surgery dates often open within the same month, and we offer an expedited gastric sleeve path for patients who are ready to move quickly.
Meals progress in stages, from liquids toward small, protein-focused portions over the first weeks. Our team explains each stage before and after surgery and answers questions as they come up. Our diet plans are also available on our website.
Yes. Dr. Keshavarzi offers a teen gastric sleeve for adolescents ages 14 to 17. Families from Lee County follow the same path as adults, with testing that can be done close to home.
Tell us where you are in Lee County and what you have tried so far. You will leave the first conversation knowing which procedures fit, what testing you can do near home and a realistic timeline.
