Bariatric surgery makes the stomach smaller so you feel full on far less food. Gastric bypass also reroutes part of the small intestine. Dr. Keshavarzi performs these operations laparoscopically, through a few small incisions, and also offers endoscopic and nonsurgical options when surgery is not the right fit.
Our office is in South Miami, about a two-hour drive south of St. Lucie County on Florida's Turnpike or I-95. Patients from Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Tradition and St. Lucie West make that trip because they want one surgeon, one all-inclusive price and a plan that keeps their time in Miami short.
There is no single right operation. Dr. K matches the procedure to your health history, your goals and how much weight you want to lose, and he may combine surgery with medical weight loss.
| Procedure | How it works | Often considered for |
|---|---|---|
| Gastric sleeve | Removes the larger outer part of the stomach, leaving a narrow sleeve. | Most adults seeking significant, lasting weight loss. |
| Low BMI Mini Sleeve | A sleeve gastrectomy planned for patients below the usual surgical weight range. | Patients with a lower BMI who have not lost weight any other way. |
| Teen gastric sleeve | A sleeve gastrectomy with care planned around adolescents and their families. | Teens ages 14 to 17 with obesity. |
| Gastric bypass | Creates a small stomach pouch and reroutes part of the small intestine. | Patients with severe reflux or type 2 diabetes. |
| Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty | Sutures the stomach smaller from the inside with an endoscope, with no incisions. | Patients who want a procedure without incisions. |
| ORBERA gastric balloon | A soft balloon placed in the stomach for a set period, then removed. | Patients who want a temporary, nonsurgical start. |
| Medical weight loss | A personalized plan that can include GLP-1 injections, nutrition and coaching. | Patients not ready for surgery, or support before and after it. |
Much of the preparation can happen close to home. You come to South Miami for the parts that need Dr. K in person.
Dr. K reviews your health history, weight loss attempts and goals, then explains which procedure fits and why.
Medical clearances and an upper endoscopy are required. Tests can be done at our clinic or an outside facility, and an EGD from the last five months is accepted.
A pre-surgery diet is required to prepare your body for the operation. Our team supports you through every step of the preparation.
Dr. K performs your procedure laparoscopically. Your hospital stay and all hospital-related fees are part of the sleeve package.
Most patients return to work in 4 to 7 days. Avoid lifting anything over 20 pounds while you heal.
Follow-up appointments for the first year after surgery are included, so your progress is tracked as the weight comes off.

Dr. Reza Keshavarzi, MD, FACS, FASMBS
Patients call him Dr. K. He is our lead surgeon, performs the sleeve, bypass, ESG and balloon procedures we offer and conducts consultations himself, so the surgeon you meet is the surgeon who operates.
Dr. Keshavarzi was with us throughout the whole process and was even contacting us once home to see if everything was running smoothly.

Our gastric sleeve package has one published price that covers the costs patients most often ask about when traveling for surgery. Pricing for bypass, ESG, the balloon and medical weight loss is reviewed at your consultation.
If Dr. Keshavarzi performs your pre-op EGD, the procedure itself is included in your overall cost and a $750 hospital fee applies.
Debit and credit cards are accepted for any remaining balance. Full details are on our financing page.

Surgery changes how much you can eat. Lasting results come from the habits you build around it: protein-first meals, daily movement and regular check-ins. Dr. K lives that advice himself and builds a personalized plan with each patient.
These services support you before and after your operation, wherever you live in St. Lucie County.
Coverage for weight loss surgery depends on your plan and its requirements, so our team reviews it with you individually. Patients who prefer a set price can choose our all-inclusive gastric sleeve package and spread the cost with Cherry financing.
It depends on your starting weight, how closely you follow the post-op diet and how active you are. Weight loss is usually fastest in the first months after a sleeve and continues through the first year. Dr. K sets realistic goals with you before surgery and tracks your progress at the follow-up visits included in the package.
Gastric bypass makes the stomach smaller and also reroutes part of the small intestine, so it changes both how much you eat and how food is absorbed. It is often considered for patients with significant acid reflux or type 2 diabetes. A sleeve is a simpler operation that suits many patients. Dr. K performs both and recommends one after reviewing your health history.
Yes. Weight loss injections must be stopped at least two weeks before your surgery date. Tell our team which medication and dose you use so it can be built into your pre-surgery plan.
Scheduling depends on how quickly you complete your required tests and clearances. Results from the doctor we recommend for pre-op analyses come back within 48 hours, which helps patients move quickly. Ask about our expedited gastric sleeve if timing matters to you.
No. A sleeve gastrectomy removes the larger outer portion of the stomach, and that cannot be undone. Patients who want a reversible option often look at the ORBERA gastric balloon, which is removed after a set period, or endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, which reshapes the stomach from the inside without removing any of it.
Meet Dr. K, learn which procedure fits your health and goals, and leave with a clear plan and a clear price.
